Reaver Portal

Quarter mile wide circle of dull grey located offshore of many island clusters. Only known connection to the portals. Waves will lap up to the edge but never tip over. Rain which falls toward a Portal never strikes the surface. Objects thrown or launched to a Portal slow as they approach, with lighter objects sliding sideways till they fall into the ocean. Heavier objects, upon reaching the Portal's event horizon, appear to float in a dimple on the surface, like a rock in quicksilver. The Portal's grey surface then flows up the object, engulfing it, before pulling it into the Portal. Living creatures must make a POW check to approach the Portal. Failure indicates the mental and physical resistance is too strong. Successfully touching the Portal, from either the top or bottom, results in the surface flowing over the creature and pulling them into the Portal. Any creature or object lost to a Portal cannot be detected or contacted with any mundane or magical fashion, seeming to cease to exist.
