Description:

Casters of a Detect Invisibility spell are able to see any invisible objects or beings, as well as any that are out of phase. In addition, it enables the caster to detect hidden or concealed creatures (e.g., thieves in shadows, snallygasters in underbrush, and so on).

It does not reveal the method of concealment or invisibility, except in the case of creatures who are out of phase, who appear as if being viewed through a smoky mirror. It does not reveal illusions or enable the caster to see through physical objects. Detection is line of sight along a ten-foot-wide path to the range limit.
