If the caster successfully hits in melee combat, the creature struck suffers 1d4+4 points of damage, with a damage bonus of +2 (i. e., 7-10 points) if the creature is undead or is especially vulnerable to the selected element. If the creature is resistant to damage from the element, damage is reduced by 2 (i.e., 1d4+2 points). Creatures composed of the chosen element or using the element as an innate attack suffer no damage. Ancillary effects logical to the element interacting with the target are possible (flames igniting combustible materials, ice freezing liquids, water dousing fire, etc.) However, it is not a magical weapon in the normal sense of the term, so creatures (other than undead) struck only by magical weapons are not harmed by it.

As a Called Casting (Hard) this spell can produce two weapons which can be dual wielded or a two handed weapon with reach (a chain, two handed sword, long spear, etc.)
