Description:

A lesser form of the Polymorph spell, Transmogrify allows the caster to transform into one alternate form selected when learning the spell. This form cannot be changed once chosen. If the caster wishes to be able to Transmogrify into a different form they would have to learn a new version of the spell for the new form (with the attendant investment of Soul and Skill points.)

The caster may only turn into an animal species with a Build between -2 and 2 with which they are personally familiar. Simply reading about a snallygaster is not enough to take the form of one. Worn or held equipment melds into the new form with continuously operative protective devices, such as a ring of protection, continuing to operate.

Transmogrify conveys the new form's physical abilities, but not necessarily the skills to use them. If the form selected has wings, the Occultist can fly. If the form has gills, the caster can breathe water. Racial abilities outside of the caster's norm should be treated as new skills at a default of 15%. (For a landdweller breathing through gills is not that different than using lungs, but flying or using sonar to hear underwater would be a new skill. Storytellers have final say.) Skills can be improved through the normal process. Magic use would depend on the caster's ability to correlate the verbal and somatic components to the new form. This would incur 1R or 2R Disadvantage on skill rolls. Attack and Dodge rolls for 'natural' weapons or armor are used instinctively at the caster's normal skill.

The caster can change back into his own form at will; this ends the spell immediately. A caster who is slain automatically returns to his normal form.
