Draken - Aderonmu aka Scrapetail
Born only with forelegs, Scrape has a secondary set of smaller wings where their hind legs would be. Ground movement requires Scrape to pull their body behind them like a Mexican Mole Lizard, hence the nickname.
While ungainly and slow on the ground, Scrape is quick and agile in the air. The second set of wings increases their ability to bank and turn. In addition Scrape dedicated themselves to learning magic to compensate for their missing limbs and can cast Haste for a short term speed boost.
Scrape's breath weapon is a string of lightning bolts which they can direct at up to three targets. Scrape can instead channel the electricity through their body to inflict damage on a victim who is in physical or conductive contact with them. A favored tactic is to Haste themselves, strike the target with lightning to weaken it, physically grapple (Scrape’s tail is supple enough to wrap around targets and constrict) and then apply constriction and shock damage till the creature dies.
Draken – Naidu aka The Groundling
Smaller but longer than other draken, Naidu hatched without functional jet flaps or wings. They adaped by learning to tunnel and burst out of the ground underneath their target, dragging them into the tunnel to be carried off and eaten. This trait has earned Naidu the sobriquet “The Burrowing Death”.
Naidu’s breath weapon is a crystalline web. They expel it like a wad of phlem with a trailing edge of spittle connecting it to their mouth. Naidu activates the saliva trigger when the phlegm ball is at the desired target, causing the phlegm to explode in crystal-like strands which bond to anything n the area of effect due to their gummy nature.
Obaysch –
A hippo body and head with a neck the length of a tall giraffe’s. This allows the Oba to float at the surface of rivers and lakes while eating water plants and fish, or to remain submerged and hidden while hunting prey or grazing on shore vegetation while hiding under the water’s surface. Obas have also been seen floating closte to shore to hunt animals looking ro a drink or to graze on plants and tree branches within range of its long, prehensile neck. Its bite is very powerful (reflect in damage rolls)
An obaysch’s hide is incredibly tough (+10 to Dodge) and is sought after for barding, armor, and shields. Such armor and barding, however, is incredibly heavy, requiring great strength to wear and greatly slowing the wearer (half movement while wearing unless STR or SIZ of XX or greater).
Obayschs who live by oceans will occasionally forage and hunt offshore. Their slow swimming speed and poor manuverability make them easy prey for marine creatures like dobblers. They have been known to attack coasting boats.
Snyffusaurus –
A warm-blooded sauropod covered in brown feathers resembling long fur, the snyffusaurus is the size of a small elephant. Its head features large eyes, no ears, a wide, flat mouth, and a long trunk like proboscis which has a secondary set of eyes and a toothy maw which can extend beyond the trunk to see, breathe, or bite. The main jaw can dislocate like a snake, allowing the snyffu to swallow creatures of SIZ 70 or smaller whole. The trunk connects to the lungs but not the stomach. Prey which cannot be swallowed whole is either crushed via constriction by the muscular trunk or torn into swallowable pices as the snyffu holds the body down and the trunk tears off pieces.
Badgerhawk –
As advertised, Kniget variation of owlbear. Wings are proportional and badgerhawks can fly. Front legs have badger paws, rear hawk claws. Coloration matches hawks’ usual plumage. Retains badger’s nasty aggressive disposition.
Dire Badgerhawk – as above, but size of black bear.
Rumors of grizzly sized badgerhawks exist but no survivors have confirmed them.
TO BE DEVELOPED – VOLE / GOPHER / SQUIRREL / CHIPMUNK / HAMSTER VARIANTS (not moles, they are too subterranean). Voles are a good candidate for mad experimentation due to their rapid breeding cycle.
Place
Corkscrew Mountain –
An ancient dwarven excavation, Corkscrew Mountain is believed to be one of the first kingdoms to arise after the Riving. The unique shape comes from generations of dwarven miners an dstonemasons following the plan originally laid out by Thrane Rc’Carm, the founder of Corkscrew Mountain. Rc’Carm discovered the mountain, a defunct volcano, was composed of basalt heavily laced with with adamantine. Rc’Carm invited his and related clans to exploit the mineral wealth and they did so in great secrecy.
Rc’Carm chose the corkscrew form as a monument to his people’s work. Adamantium is sold at a trading town miles away from the mountain, and the path between is through an extensive cave system. The mountain is connected by a ring of farmlands and then wilds. Patrols kill anyone in the wilds to try to preserve the secret of Corkscrew Mountain’s location.
