Curse of Strahd

Orb of the Shrouded Sun
AKA Lava Lamp Ball

Description:
A glass sphere approximately 6" in diameter and .5 pounds. The ball shines with radiant sunlight, but the inner surface is 95% covered with a swirling cloud of utter darkness so the light is only visible in the swirls and eddies. Shaking the ball makes the darkness flow like snow in a snowglobe. Can be used as a light source, is the equivelent of a torch.

Location:
Death House - Dark Lord's Shrine - Statue of Strahd (Area31)

History:
Actually a minor artifact of the Morninglord, of which the cultists were ignorant. Taken from an adventurer captured early in the cult's existence, the Dursts commissioned the statue specifically to hold the Orb, seeing it as symbolizing Strahd's darkness overtaking the light.

Game Stats:

When broken the sunlight in the Orb bursts forth, doing 4d6 damage to evil outsiders and undead (no Saving Throw). Creatures Vunerable to Radiant energy take double damage.
